Status of Items to be presented in Openstack summit Boston

Jamey suggested that we create a table of Forum sessions that most interest us and then we each vote with +1's to indicate where we have strongest interest. It was agreed that Jamey would create a page. It is to be similar to this one which was done by the Telco/NFV working group: https://ethercalc.openstack.org/=qqdo5sfmri

  • Action Item: Jamey McCabe to setup LCOO Forum items of Interest page.  Done:Queens Forum LCOO Items of Interest
  • All: Update the page at least with +1 for topics you think are important and you would attend.  Also mark duplicates if you see and any other comments.

Extreme Testing

Deep Dive scheduled for Tuesday April 11 1300UTC Meeting Page: 2017.04.11 Specialty-Extreme Testing Development Proposal

Working page setup at: Working Space for Extreme Testing and related topics

Community Development Proposal: http://specs.openstack.org/openstack/openstack-user-stories/user-stories/proposed/openstack_extreme_testing.html

Discuss Objectives & logistics

Discuss potential collaboration

 Set for April 11

Update the meeting page with topics you would like to have addressed

Objectives:

Create a framework to add this testing to the OpenStack testing gates

Question: How does this relate to what is being done by Rally? Redundant? Is Rally already doing this?

Single tenant vs multi-tenant?

Workloads vs Control Plane... both?

Sundar spoke of an objective to run extreme/destructive tests and publish results.

What about Pharos and Doctor projects at OPNFV for destructive testing?

What about (yardstick + bottlenecks) stress tests also proposed at OPNFV? For concurrent testing?

This is mainly focused on automated HA testing framework for control plane. For instance, HW failures, network failures. I believe Rally is to test API response time under a load. (shintaro)

Other Potential Collaboration Areas:

  • OpenStack Resource Management (ORM)
  • Open Contrail

  • In place skip-level OpenStack upgrades

  • Enterprise Security

Enterprise Security Policy Compliance  LCOO-7

Related Summit session requests:

  • Scale/Resiliency to 1000+

Walmart's OneOps has been open-sourced. Megan indicated an overview is possible post-summit

There is also RedHat ManageIQ (community version of CloudForms). What différences between the three proposals?

Walmart does a once per year upgrade. N+2 backwards compatibility has not gotten any support in the past.

  • Question about the potential scope of "In place project"?  Could it be:
    • General frameworks for addressing this
    • Chosen "from and to" versions and  Utilities for upgrading
    • Chosen projects and Manpower for testing and coding for N+2 backwards compatibility
